Chin surgery can reduce or augment the chin to give more balanced facial appearance.

Chin surgery is usually performed in an outpatient clinic. The procedure performed under local anesthesia. Patients usually return home within hours of the procedure. 

Silicone chin implant will be used to augment a receding chin. The incision site is in one of two possible locations:

- inside the mouth, under the lower lip and gum.

- outside the mouth, under the chin in an unnoticeable area.

• The silicone implant is placed in an appropriately sized pocket for the best appearance, 
• then the incision site is closed.

After chin surgery, swelling or discoloration could be seen for 1 - 2 weeks. Following the doctor's postoperative instruction list could help reducing the risk of complications. 

All surgery poses risks. Complications in chin surgery are rare. Infection may develop and usually treated with antibiotics successfully.
